Richard Tilley, Sales Director of Sunseeker Spain, was delighted to hear the news that matriculation tax in Spain has been removed on charter vessels in Spanish Waters.

Richard, who is based at the Sunseeker London office in Mayfair comments; “this will encourage international charter vessels to head back to Spain and help improve the Spanish economy. Up until recently leisure boats over 15m used for charter have been obliged to pay a 12% tax PLUS a 21% VAT which has discouraged owners wishing to charter in Spanish Waters.”

After much debate and lengthy negotiations, the Spanish Marine Trade Association (ANEN) – to which Sunseeker Spain is associated – have convinced Spanish officials to finally make the change, which came into action this month.

Although this is comforting news to our international clients at Sunseeker, Spanish nationals who register their boats (over 8 metres) under the Spanish flag are still subject to matriculation tax. This is the next step for the ANEN to conquer…

Meanwhile, the news is set to have an extremely positive effect on boating in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, and we look forward to welcoming more boaters to Spanish waters.

Promising plenty of high octane fun, the Monaco Historic Grand Prix marks an exciting event on the Sunseeker calendar every 2 years. For 2014, Sunseeker Monaco teamed with Sunseeker Charters to host a series of client parties, where guests soaked up the trackside atmosphere from the luxury of the 28 Metre Yacht “HIGH ENERGY”.

Fresh from the shipyard and at the beginning of her illustrious career with Sunseeker Charters, the Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht “HIGH ENERGY” was berthed in the thick of the action, in Monaco’s Port Hercule, from May 9-11th.

Guests onboard included the likes of racing great Tiff Needell (R), pictured with Sunseeker London’s Lizzie Trott and Paolo Barilla (L), the eventual winner of the classic F3 race on Sunday

Over the weekend, Sunseeker guests were invited to board the yacht with full hospitality and an unbeatable location to watch the racing unfurl from the yacht’s flybridge.

Throughout the race, guests were treated to some wonderful catering onboard by “HIGH ENERGY’s” Captain Paul and Chef Hanna.

Friday saw Ferrari Scuderia Monte-Carlo team up with Veuve Clicquot and Sunseeker Monaco for a VIP party with a number of invitees arriving by tender, whilst Saturday night’s cocktail party was a very enjoyable evening with clients and guests making new acquaintances amongst the historic motor racing network.

The beginning of the Cannes Yachting Festival marked a milestone for the global Sunseeker network, with the celebration of the 100th Sunseeker yacht delivered over 100 feet.

On the exclusive VIP terrace of the Palais des Festivals, overlooking the Cannes Yachting Festival, guests were welcomed with a special edition 100 x 100 commemorative Champagne flute filled will the finest Champagne

Sunseeker International invited all original owners of the 100 yachts, along with their Sunseeker sales representative, senior members of the Sunseeker design and management team and a selection of international industry press to attend this momentous occasion.

Whilst owners had the opportunity to meet the designers who created the concept of their unique vessels, the attending dealers were excited to learn the developments from senior management of the brand-new 100ft+ models being launched in 2016.

The celebrations will continue throughout the boat show season, with special features at the upcoming Southampton and Monaco Yacht Show

Sunseeker International CEO Phil Popham, took to the stage to welcome all attending VIP guests, celebrating both the past 100 yachts and taking the opportunity to look forward to the next 100. In his speech he presented the audience with a number of interesting facts about the 100 delivered 100ft+ Sunseeker yachts:

Sunseeker celebrates ‘Britain is Great’ during the Southampton Boat Show. With the nation celebrating Her Majesty the Queen becoming the countries longest reining Monarch, what a fantastic month to be British!

During the Southampton Boat Show, the Sunseeker stand is paying homage to the ‘Britain is Great’ campaign and displaying a variety of famous British icons on the Sunseeker stand including 4 portraits of Her Majesty the Queen by celebrated photographer David Bailey.

The Sunseeker San Remo is also apart of this collection, which during this show is dressed in honour of the exhibition. The San Remo, dressed with a vibrant Union Jack wrap is an addition to the stand and available for guests to view.

Other exhibits of the Sunseeker special Britain is Great campaign include some of the greatest creative brands in the UK at this year’s Southampton Boat Show, as it hosts the GREAT Creativity exhibition in the VIP area of its stand; a world first. Items on display will include a gown hand-crafted by British Couture designer, Nicholas Oakwell; a unique GREAT Mulberry handbag designed by leading British model Cara Delevingne; and a bespoke handcrafted watch by Roger Smith, Independent Watchmaker.

Another national spectacular will be England hosting of the Rugby World Cup, which Callabro alongside Sunseeker friends Take That performed at the launch concert last week. On to the roof of the 02, Tim Routledge often working with event specialist Stardust on various Sunseeker events around the world, designed and produced the worlds largest projection on to the 02 roof, which will continue for the duration of the Rugby World Cup.

In the coming weeks, the Sunseeker London Group are very excited to be inviting a number of VIP guests to the Rugby World Cup which is set to be a ‘Great’ British event.

During the Monaco Yacht Show, Liz Brewer met with Gregers Andersen to discuss party planning on board your yacht and all that the 108 Predator ‘ZULU’ has to offer.

‘ZULU’ lends itself perfectly for being a social and comfortable boat for hosting parties. With 4 luxurious guest cabins sleeping 8 guests and 4 crew to help, ‘ZULU’ is a sleek and sexy looking sports yacht, which has been specifically designed to easily accommodate the ultimate party whilst on board. ‘One level’ yachting enables guests to fully use the space available alongside perfect party features including Jacuzzi, a plethora of sunbathing lounges, a super sound and audio system, secure stabilisers and 4 attentive crew all headed up by Captain, Gregers Andersen.

‘ZULU’ has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment by Baldwin Harris with a complete interior and exterior finish and specially commissioned parasol protecting sunbathers around the Jacuzzi. A large aft cockpit has been reconfigured and a customised servery space has been introduced. Staying true to the natural design lines of the 108 Predator, ‘ZULU’s’ exterior has been enhanced with a carbon fibre hull wrap.

Liz Brewer’s best party secrets to hosting a party on board;

1) When inviting guests, choose your guest list carefully: don’t over crowd your yacht! Your yacht party is super exclusive. If you have more friends to invite, host another party!

2) If possible, theme your party to the location you are in! Local produce, wine and food can easily be sourced and this creates a unique party for all to enjoy!

3) Create the perfect ambiance by selecting the right music for the occasion. Also use scented diffusers, flowers and luminous lighting.

4) Offer guests still and sparkling water throughout the day or evening to help re-hydrate.

5) Offer sun protection; a high factor sun protection location is necessary for all guests on board, however, always remind them to be careful when applying the lotion close to the teak decking or luxurious cushions! Remind guests to make use of a parasol too.

6) As barefoot on board is normally compulsory, offer slippers for guests to use when they have removed their shoes, especially during evening parties.

7) Arrange for a polite sign to be placed in the bathroom explaining yacht bathroom etiquette whilst on board.

8) Remember that your captain and crew need to sleep even if you and your guests don’t! Ask your crew to leave provisions out for you so you and your guests can easily help themselves.

9) If your guests are sleeping on board; allow them time in their cabin to get used to their surroundings, especially if new to the yacht. Upon departure, offer a small piece of memorabilia for them to remember their time on board. The usual gifts on all the super yachts on which I have been a guest, have given a T shirt with the yachts name and a baseball cap with the yachts logo.

10) Always host your party with the stabilisers on! There is nothing worse than drinks and canapés rolling around the aft cockpit!

During the Monaco Yacht Show, Sunseeker displayed 3 yachts in a pinnacle position just outside the Monaco Yacht Club. Sunseeker invited guests to the show and welcomed visitors to view the yachts on display; 40 Metre ‘THUMPER’, 115 Sport Yacht ‘LIVING THE DREAM’ and 28 Metre Yacht ‘MERRICK’. We require a enthusiastic outgoing person to join our team in Puerto Portals. The role requires a trained engineer to liaise between customers and crew to guide and assist through the new boat experience, tracking the warranty process and making sure we give the highest level of customer service that our customers have come to expect.
The position will hold ultimate responsibility for the following tasks:

As warranty coordinator you will need to liaise between clients, captains and the factory on technical items
Analyse system malfunctions and make repairs under tight schedules working independently at times.
To qualify and quantify all the warranty claims that arise and ensure that the claims are attended to with minimum downtime or inconvenience to the customer and in a cost effective manner.
To gather, compile, and organize all support data and technical information required to properly substantiate, submit, and recover warranty claims from OEMs and other service providers
Responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the Yachts as well as managing and overseeing contractors in case of breakdown, more comprehensive servicing, warranty or refit works. Other areas of responsibility include refrigeration, plumbing, electrics, hydraulics, and more and more frequently now, AV/IT.

Skills Required:

Qualified Engineer
Good report writer, driven to make a difference and follow through changes
Clear & concise communication skills, confident to present information to senior management and customers alike
Have good understanding on engineering materials and ability to read engineering drawings and manuals from OEMs
Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) fluently in English
